Let me tell you this: Bodrum happens to be well and truly one of the most beautiful resorts in Turkey, located on the Aegean Coast. The first time I went there, I could not believe how blue the clear waters were. They almost appear photoshopped, but they are 100 percent real!

The weather? Amazing throughout the year. Winter sees temperatures hardly falling below 15 C. Then we have the summer where one can cool down in the sea; the time for spring and the fall is just great for sightseeing-at-your-own-pace without the rush of people.

What makes Bodrum distinct is the variety in beaches, different types of coves, and options for relaxation. One day, one could be laying back at a crowded beach-Gümbet Beach; the next day, one would be fathoming a lonely little cove that can only be reached by boat! This is so going on your Instagram!

Got kids? Kid-friendly holidays here! Most resorts have shallow waters, playgrounds, and family activities. The kids of my clients always return with a begging desire to go back!

History buffs would also not be disappointed with the ancient mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World! The Castle of St. Peter from the 15th century is a dominating feature of the harbor and contains an incredible underwater archaeology museum.

For the adventure seeker, there is a choice between diving and surfing. Underwater visibility is freaking amazing- I saw a shipwreck down there during my dive last year!

The good thing about this place is that it is comparatively inexpensive compared to other Mediterranean places. Food, accommodation, and activities are all quite reasonably priced.

When to go? The months of May, June, or September, October afford perfect temperatures without hordes of tourists. July and August attract the party crowd, and the prices spike.

Quick tip: Try learning a few Turkish phrases; the locals respect the effort and give you the best service.
